Taiwan Qingjing Highlands

So we drove past the Hehuan mountain ridges. Like the way up the Hehuan mountain from Hualien, we stopped by roadside shops, teahouses for breaks and sights. We stopped by a little local fruit market (indigenous villages) to have some fresh bites.

The first township we arrived while going downhill was the highland township of Qing Jing (清境), literally translated as “Pure Locale”. It was home to the famous Qingjing farm, a popular tourist resort. We originally planned to visit this place but there were already big crowds gathered, there. The big tourist crowd was expected as it had been raining the past 2 weeks and this couple of days has seen the elusive sunshine. We decided to head to our BNB straight and enjoy our own serenity time, Noting that crowded places would rarely be enjoyable for us.

Villarelax

We arrived at villarelax, a group of guesthouses privately run by a Taiwanese family. Access by private vehicles can be a bit tricky. The area was only accessible by small, windy and slopping roads from the main highway 14. However, with my years of driving and navigating experience, we arrived without having to seek help. We were surprisingly the only guests there, and the friendly staffs gave us the maximum freedom to chose our apartments and roam around. And we almost exclusively spent our time within the area, just to relax.

We got ourselves the 7 pax lofted family room. The view from our room was spectacular, all surrounded by natural greens. We simply stayed in our balcony and sipped tea. After some light drizzle in the late afternoon, it was not only amazing to see a rainbow from the balcony, but we have to “look downwards” to it. Our altitude was practically above the rainbow crescent.

Walked around and out to the main road establishments for dinner. Very relaxing walk. And a sumptuous local dinner in a humble restaurant.

The night was quiet and serene. There were clouds but we still caught some glimpse of stars in the night sky. We slept early to as to wake up early for that sunrise, A cloudy sunrise.

The room came with homely breakfast. Nice. And because we were the only guests, there were also no hurry to check out. So we had complete freedom of time.

From the busy modern cities to historic villages, to indigenous townships, to rocky valleys, to hilly highlands. Next, we head down south to Kaoshiung, a seaport city.
